Pybus, Alan Berkley

Alan Berkley Pybus was baptised on the 7th March 1897 in All Saints Church Mackworth, the son of Richard and Sabina Pybus. In 1901 they were living in Markeaton Street moving to The Old Lodge, Derby by 1911 where his occupation was given as clerk.
He enlisted on the 5th April 1916. He initially joined the 4th Sherwood Foresters and then transferred to the 2/6th Battalion Scottish Rifles. He was described as 5ft 8 ¾ ins Tall with brown hair and grey eyes.
His army career, however, did not last long and by the end of the year he was discharged for being physically unfit for service.
He married Charlotte E Goodess in 1921 in Newton Abbott.
